"Under no circumstances, and at no point, can Israel allow
anyone with these kinds of malicious designs against
us [to] have control of weapons of destruction that
can threaten our existence," Olmert said at a Tuesday
news conference.
In
a world of uncontrollable nuclear proliferation, whose designs are
acceptable? Whose are
“malicious”? Who gets to define the “axis of evil”? Why can India, Pakistan, Israel and South Africa possess nuclear
weapons along with the U.S., France,
England, Russia and China but not anyone else? Is there a principle other than brute power to justify this “nuclear
apartheid”?
