Environment and Development: Toward Sustainability in the 21st
Century, the inaugural symposium of the Harvard University Center for
the Environment. Provides program overview on all symposium
activities, and a schedule. Follow up information about symposium
presentations, including available abstracts, visual material, and

The newly established Harvard
University Center for the Environment provides a focus for interdisciplinary,
cross-faculty research and education in the field of environmental studies at
Harvard. The Center assumes and extends the mission and activities of the
University Committee on Environment, created in 1991.

As part of its mission,
the Harvard University Center for the Environment facilitates and supports
team-based, interdisciplinary research projects undertaken by Harvard faculty members
to address environmental problems of global significance. Currently sponsored projects
include research on
campus sustainability,
China,
community and environment,
environmental economics,
environmental values,
global environmental assessment,
India,
religion and ecology,
sustainability science, and
water and health.

The Harvard University Center for the Environment maintains
several electronic mail discussion lists and newsletters. The Harvard Environment Network
Bulletin is a weekly calendar of environmental events in the greater Boston area.
EnvConfs-L, EnvJobs-L,
and EnvPubs-L distribute announcements of
conferences, job opportunities, and publication notices respectively.
